Title: Shaded with patience
Pairing(s): Ohno/Makoto (Sailor Jupiter)
Rating: G
Disclaimer: I own nothing of either franchise
Word count: 582
Summary: When Makoto visits Ohno.
Author's Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] honeyporridge for the [livejournal.com profile] arashi_on fundraiser. FOR SHAME, I KNOW. She asked for a Sailor Moon/Arashi crossover. It's a series of one-shots of the five couples I paired. Suggested music would be One Republic's All We Are.

Ohno heard a meek knock on the door, followed by the creak of hinges and shuffling of heels. Walking out from the kitchen, he saw that her hair had fallen over her face as she bent down to arrange his shoes, flip flops up to dress shoes.

He walked over to her, pulling her up by her shoulders. She smiled tentatively, tucking the loose strands behind her ears, rose earrings glistening from the sunlight coming through the windows.

“Morning,” she whispered, eyes mesmerized.

Ohno hummed in reply, leaning in for a kiss in greeting, noting how Makoto’s cheeks still grew a bit pink at the display of affection. He liked it.

“I need your help,” the artist mumbled, dragging his girlfriend down the cramped hallway into his workspace. The floor was covered in crumpled pieces of paper, pencil sharpening and paint splatter. It was the only room Makoto didn’t offer to help clean.

The older man pulled a sheet off one of his canvases, tossing it onto the futon. Makoto’s hand reached for his, lost for words.

There, on the canvas, was her. It wasn’t near finished, but she could already tell the amount of detail he’d put into it. Her hair wasn’t in her signature high ponytail, but left down, curling around her shoulders. Her features were soft and timid; cheeks shaded enough to be called bashful.

And it was all in black and white.

“Ohno-kun,” she breathed, still unable to comment properly.

“I couldn’t finish it yet,” Ohno continued, seemingly unaware of his partner’s speechlessness, “I can’t figure out what’s missing. Something about your eyes, maybe…”

And as soon as he spoke, he grabbed his stool, fiddling around with his pastels before getting back to work, bringing more life to the portrait than Makoto could’ve anticipated.

When he finally tuned her out, Makoto turned around and headed straight for the kitchen, buzzing around to make some tea for the two of them. Bringing them back on a tray, she tiptoed into the room, careful to not interrupt his concentration, and set them down on the floor near his feet.

At that moment, her purse buzzed.

Scrambling for the little contraption, Makoto flicked it open before snapping it shut and tossing it back into her purse with added care.

“Ohno-kun,” she started, hating to ruin their day.

“It’s the girls again, right?” he asked, knowing the answer.

Nodding even though he couldn’t see her, Makoto sighed. “I’m sorry Ohno-kun. You know I’d stay if I could, but…”

Ohno put his pastel back on the easel and turned around to face his girlfriend. He got down on his knees in front of her, now at eye level.

“Mako-chan,” he began, eyes serious, “I’ve wanted to say this for a while.”

Makoto held her breath.

“I’ve known you for years, and even though we’ve only started going out this past month, you mean a lot to me. And I don’t know what I’d ever do if anything happened to you. You’re a permanent fixture in my life, and I’m sure you know it.”

Makoto nodded dumbly, not expecting the normally quiet man to say such words.

“So, you have to be careful.”

Not knowing where Ohno was taking this, or more like not wanting to know, she started shaking her head, silently asking him to just stop.

Ohno suddenly held her head in his hands, leaning in to kiss her cheek. But before he moved away, he whispered, voice cracking,

“Be safe, Jupiter.”
